چکیده

background: in myocardial perfusion spect imaging, images are degraded by photon attenuation, the distance-dependent collimator, detector response and photons scatter. filters greatly affect quality of nuclear medicine images materials and methods: a phantom simulating heart left ventricle was built. about 1mci of 99mtc was injected into the phantom. images were taken from this phantom. some filters including parzen, hamming, hanning, butterworth and gaussian were exerted on the phantom images. by defining some criteria such as contrast, signal to noise ratio, and defect size detectability, the best filter can be determined. results : 0.325 nyquist frequency and 0.5 nq was obtained as the optimum cut off frequencies respectively for hamming and hanning filters. order 11 ,cut off 0.45 nq and order 20 cut off 0.5 nq obtained optimum respectively for butterworth and gaussian filters. conclusion : the optimum member of every filter’s family was obtained. iran . j. radiat. res., 2004 1(4): 205-210

Determination of the optimum filter for qualitative and quantitative 99mTc myocardial SPECT imaging

Background: Butterworth, Gaussian, Hamming, Hanning, and Parzen are commonly used SPECT filters during filtered back-projection (FBP) reconstruction, which greatly affect the quality and size accuracy of image. Materials and Methods: This study involved a cardiac phantom in which 1.10 cm thick cold defect was inserted into its myocardium wall and filled with 4.0 μCi/ml (0.148 MBq/ml) 99mTc conc...

Optimum compensation method and filter cutoff frequency in myocardial SPECT: a human observer study.

UNLABELLED Attenuation, photon scatter, and distance-dependent collimator-detector response are major degrading factors in myocardial SPECT images. The current study investigated whether compensation for these factors improves perfusion defect detectability, and compared the results for human observers with a previous study using a mathematical observer. METHODS Four methods were investigated...

Relationship between the optimum cut off frequency for Butterworth filter and lung-heart ratio in 99mTc myocardial SPECT

Background: We investigated whether the lungheart ratio parameter (LHR) can be used to identify the optimum cut off frequency for Butterworth filter in 99mTc myocardial SPECT imaging. Materials and Methods: This study involved a cardiac phantom system consisting of cardiac insert in which 1.10 cm cold defect was inserted into its myocardium wall and filled with 4.0 μCi/ml (0.148 MBq/ml...

Filter selection for 99mTc-Sestamibi myocardial perfusion SPECT imaging [Persian]

Myocardial perfusion SPECT imaging with Tc99m-sestamibi is the most accurate non-invasive means of detecting coronary artery disease and assessing the severity of perfusion abnormalities in the patients with coronary stenosis. Though simple and straight forward the results produced by the technique is very much affected by the details being used. One of the main problems with the test, wh...
